Successfully migrated my music blog from Go Daddy hosting to Media Temple.  I moved because of the lack of support for the recent WordPress security hole at Go Daddy.  Luckily I was not affected so I presume except someone did manage to hack into and spam all comments on all my posts.   Also my hosting subscription runs out at the end of the month and I have a grid server on Media Temple that I am barely using.  The migration was quite simple just download all the blog WordPress files with FTP, changed the wp-config.php file, and did a backup and restore of the WordPress database.  Plan is to deprecate and move the music blog to a sub domain and use the main site for a music web application being developed in Python.  Need to change some database entries in order to move to a sub domain.
